Internet Service in New Mexico

In New Mexico, 96.8% of the population can access wired or wireless high speed Internet at speeds of 10 Mbps. In fact, 87% of the population has DSL access, 75% has cable Internet, 99.1% has wireless Internet and 7.5% has fiber Internet available. Consumers are pleased to learn that over 52% of the population has the choice of 3 or more Internet service providers for their service, giving them real choice in which Internet service provider to use.

Despite this accessibility, a startling 39.6% of the population of New Mexico doesn’t have Internet service – one of the highest rates in the country.

Broadband Service in New Mexico

Since 2009, the New Mexico Department of Information Technology has been awarded $4,762,287.00 in federal dollars for New Mexico's "New Mexico Broadband Program" program. New Mexico has awarded these monies to 11 organizations and departments within the state.

State and EducationSuperHighway and will be leveraging $49 million in state funding to bring adequate access to New Mexico schools.
