On Monday, September 10th, AT&T announced the next rollout locations for their new AT&T 5G Service for the end of 2018. This list included the following cities: New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, Jacksonville, and Louisville.
What Does 5G Mean for Consumers?
Much as the jump to 4G and 4G LTE from 3G revolutionized how and what we used our cell phones to do, this jump could be very similar. Not only does this shift allow for the streaming of much larger files and video, but also improves overall connectivity. This can allow for 5G to be brought into the home as a source of Internet for the whole family instead of just a single phone. Verizon is already planning on starting this initiative on October 1st with their 5G Home Internet Service.
Which Cities Are Next for 5G?
In addition to the the cities slated for the end of 2018, AT&T also announced cities that would be receiving the same 5G Cell Service in early 2019. These cities include: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.
