The internet started a shopping revolution with the birth of ecommerce. A large portion of the buying process can take place in the comfort of our own homes and with the invention of the smartphone, there has been huge growth in mobile shopping and digital promotion of stores and products. It has also allowed ecommerce giants such as Amazon to thrive while several well-known high street retailers have shuttered up their stores for good.

The term Dark Web conjures up images of digital back alleys where hackers can engage in all sorts of illicit activities. While this does of course happen, the reality of the dark web is actually very different. The dark web is neither good nor bad but simply a place created with security and privacy in mind.

Each website we visit on the internet looks different. Sure, they all share some similarities, but each one is unique. However, underneath it all, most of the websites we use on a daily basis have one thing in common: WordPress. If you’re not a blogger or web developer, it’s quite possible you’ve never heard of WordPress but if you use the internet, you’ve certainly interacted with WordPress in one way or another.

It’s not hard to see just how much of an impact the internet has on our lives. The vast majority of us rely on it in some form or another to do our jobs, and it’s also a tremendous source of entertainment and communication. For most of the people in the world, we love the internet so much that we pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars for devices that allow us to access it anywhere we go.
For many, it's been the only means of contacting other people, the only method for making money, and the only way of safely and securely getting the many goods we need to survive.

With the phrase "Google it" now so entrenched in our everyday language, we tend to think searching Google is the same as searching the web. But Google is just a search engine, meaning it's a tool that displays the information on the internet based on your specific query. In other words, it's a catalog of the internet.
